Screenwriter Julie Meyer
Julie Meyer has written nine feature-length screenplays and two short films. Her work includes comedy, drama, and thriller scripts. She has been a member of the Minnesota Screenwriter's Workshop for five years and currently moderates a script group at the Hennepin Center for the Arts.
Born in Minneapolis and raised in a family of eight in Bloomington, Meyer has always had an intense passion for writing. In high school she was chosen out of more than six hundred students to represent Bloomington Kennedy in the NCTE writing competition. Meyer pursued and completed a degree in English from the University of St. Thomas, and continued to get her Master’s Degree in Education to teach English. In graduate school, she won an award for writing and producing a documentary video on her father’s stories from the WWII Pacific Theater. She has also taught literature, media literacy, and creative writing to high school students. She currently works in K-12 school administration.
Meyer lives in Richfield with her husband and two children.
